Focus music and soundscapes, on a 90s media player
By the Focus98 team · Updated
WavePlay is the media player inside Focus98, made like the ones you skinned in 1999. It plays soundscapes and music while you work, between sessions and during breaks.
What's on the playlist
- Soundscapes: rain on a cabin roof, morning birdsong, a gentle brook, a corner café, a crackling fire. They loop for as long as you need.
- Music: calm classical pieces such as Satie's Gymnopédie No. 1, and tracks by Kevin MacLeod, from gentle ambient to an 8-bit Canon in D.
- Albums to buy at FocusMart, the online shop, with Focus98 Plus.
Every track is a recording shared freely by its maker, most in the public domain, and all credited in the app.

The details
Play, pause, stop, previous and next; a volume and balance bar; a playlist you can show or hide; and VIS, a visualization you can go full screen with and switch between effects. Skin packs change its look.
How to get it
WavePlay is free in the shop. It needs a sound card and multimedia speakers, which are part of the PC upgrades.
Tip Steady, wordless sound works best for focus: try the rain or the brook for deep work, and save music with lyrics for breaks.
